Description Appearance Color: Typically pale yellow or olive with a silver operculum and stomach. Males are more brightly colored and have longer finnage. Size: They grow up to 4-7.5 cm (1.6-3 inches). Fins: Males have extended filaments on their dorsal, pelvic, and anal fins. The tail fin has rounded tips with white borders. Habitat Origin: Native to freshwater streams and estuaries along the east coast of Australia. Tank Setup: Prefers a well-furnished aquarium with dense vegetation, driftwood, and floating plants. Dark backgrounds and substrates help bring out their colors. Behavior Temperament: Peaceful and best kept in groups of 10 or more. Males may spar for female attention but generally do not cause harm. Activity: Highly active and visible throughout the day. Care Requirements Water Parameters: Prefers temperatures between 18-27°C (64-81°F), a pH of 6.5-7.5, and up to 15 degrees of hardness.
